Miami Computing & Information Services (MCIS) announces that Ocean,
the Digital OpenVMS batch system in the Oxford cluster (MiaVX1) will be
unavailable on Saturday morning, 2 September 1995, from 8am until 12 noon
for software maintenance.
During this period, MCIS Technical Support will upgrade software on
the batch system (Ocean) to correspond with the same software versions
running on the interactive system (Sea). In particular, the following
software packages will be upgraded:
OpenVMS [operating system] from version 6.1 to version 6.2
MultiNet [TCP/IP software] from version 3.3 to version 3.4
This downtime should not affect interactive users. Batch jobs executing
during the downtime will be terminated.
If you wish to have your jobs restart automatically once Ocean has
returned to service, add the /RESTART qualifier to the SUBMIT command.
In addition, users can use the SET RESTART_VALUE command to have a job
restart from a point other than the beginning of the job. GAUS jobs have
the /RESTART option set automatically, so no change is necessary when
submitting GAUS jobs.
MCIS regrets any inconvenience this sscheduled system maintenance
outage may cause.
