Miami University's DEC OpenVMS system in Oxford (MiaVX1) will be
unavailable tomorrow, Saturday, 1 April 1995, from 6am until 12 noon,
for installation of additional hardware (disk drives) by MCIS Technical
Services.

All services hosted on MiaVX1 will be unavailable during this
period, including:

     * any and all applications normally used on MiaVX1

        Mail, News, etc.

     * BITNET mail, interactive messages and "send file" capability

MiaVX1 serves as Miami University's entry and departure point
for all BITNET services, which will thus be unavailable.
Incoming mail and files will be queued at the remote site and
will be delivered after MiaVX1 returns to service.

     * Many (if not most) of Miami University World Wide Web (WWW)
        server data

This includes individual as well as organizational "home pages"
served from MiaVX1. All Uniform Resource Locators (URLs)
        pointing to http://MiaVX1.MUOhio.Edu/ or http://WWW.MUOhio.Edu/
        will be inaccessible.

     *  Miami University's NetNews server

In addition to NetNews on MiaVX1 itself, any NetNews clients
served by the campus NetNews server (NNTP.MUOhio.Edu) will be
unable to access NetNews. This includes users of the DEC
OpenVMS systems in Hamilton (MiaVX2 et al.) and Middletown
        (MiaVX3 et al.).

     * VAXshare services to networked Macintosh computers

     * Miami University's Help Desk server

The Target tracking system for MCIS Help Desk problems will be
        unavailable.

MCIS regrets any inconvenience this necessary service outage may
cause.
