Two things:
(1) The particular disk space being acquired for MiaVX1 / PO has been
specifically selected because it can be used with a variety of
hardware and operating systems, so that should a time come when it
needs to be used with something other than Digital OpenVMS, that
can and will happen.
(2) "Moving" may be too strong a term. Yes, there will likely be a
centrally supported general access UNIX platform at Miami later
this academic year, but as yet, there are no plans to "move"
users to that platform. Rather, current intentions are to add
accounts on that system on request, rather than through the
blanket account generation method currently used on MiamiU,
MiaVX1 and in Novell Directory Services (NDS), so that individual
Miami students, faculty and staff who need or want to use
specific applications hosted there can do so.
