Here's a simple way to crash ANU News.
 
Get on a slow speed link, like a 14.4k modem or a decnet connection
over a 256k line.
 
Hold down the down arrow for a long time, like when you are scrolling
through a lot of messages and have a slow link.  5 seconds or so
should do the trick.
 
Then, BOOM!  News dumps you out.  Sometimes you'll get an
overrun error and news will recover, then complain when you
exit, or at least it used to.  Now it's more direct.
