After the crash, I disabled NNTP access on the system in order to solve
some problems that NNTP was causing.  Unfortunately, I forgot to re-enable
NNTP after the problems were resolved.  This affected NEWS reading on
MIAVX2 and MIAVX3 and other users of NNTP.  NNTP was re-enabled at
approximately 10:30 PM.
