This should probably have been posted to the mu.vm newsgroup, but I'll
answer it here in the mu.vms group and crosspost it to the mu.vm group.

The command on VM/CMS to acquire temporary space is GETDSK. For example,
the command:
  GETDSK 5
would acquire 5 cylinders of disk space. How big is a cylinder? A
cylinder is approximately .7 Mb. Therefore, 5 cylinders would be
approximately 3.5 Mb. This space is, by default, setup as your C minidisk.

Be careful in the way you use this, though. GETDSK on VM/CMS works
differently then ACQUIRE on OpenVMS. ACQUIRE acquires temporary space for
24 hours, at which time the space is deleted. GETDSK acquires temporary
space FOR THE TIME YOU'RE LOGGED INTO THE SYSTEM. As soon as you log off,
this temporary space is deleted.
