I'm going to leave these 2 questions to someone more knowledgable about
these than I (John Harlan?).

This one I can answer. The ACQUIRE command allocates more space for you to
use, but it doesn't allocate it in your root directory. The allocated
space is on a different disk and is pointed to by the logical TEMP.
Therefore, you can use the command:

    $ CD TEMP

to get to that other space. If you do a SHOW QUOTA after you issue this
command, you'll see the amount of space you have. Actually, you can issue
a SHOW QUOTA/DISK=TEMP command to see how much temporary space you have at
any time. Realize that this space only lasts for 24 hours.

You can use the command:

    $ CD

to get back to your login directory.
