MCIS Technical Support has requested an emergency reboot of the MCIS IBM
RS/6000 AIX system (Rose) to correct a problem that is tying up a system
resource.
The reboot should only take about 15 minutes, and will occur at approximately
5:15pm today. Services affected will include:
* NetNews [unavailable on any platform]
* Directory (PHonebook) [unavailable for queries & mail redirection]
* E-mail Outbound e-mail from Netscape *if* configured
to use SMTP Host MailFwd.MUOhio.Edu
For more details on what happens when Rose is unavailable, please consult my
previous posting in advance of last Monday's maintenance downtime.
