Miami Computing & Information Services (MCIS) regrets to announce
that the electronic Miami University Directory (ph/qi) is presently
out of service, due to a hardware malfunction on its host IBM RS/6000
(Ph.MUOhio.Edu) which occurred earlier today (Monday, 15 May 1995).

IBM service personnel will be on Miami's Oxford campus Tuesday
morning to assist MCIS Technical Support staff in correcting the
hardware malfunction. It is hoped the electronic Miami University
Directory will return to service possibly as early as late afternoon
tomorrow (Tuesday, 16 May 1995).

Effects of this unanticipated service outage include:

     * The Directory is not available for queries.
(Mail address lookups on the IBM VM/CMS system, MiamiU,
        are affected.)

     * The Directory is not available for registration of
        preferred e-mail addresses.

     * Electronic mail to [log in to unmask] addresses is not
being delivered, but is being queued for delivery as soon
as the Directory returns to service. (The Directory
redirects incoming e-mail to an individual's registered
        "preferred e-mail address.")

MCIS very much regrets the inconveniences caused by this outage.

Please direct questions to the MCIS Help Desk by electronic mail
at [log in to unmask] / [log in to unmask] /
[log in to unmask] or by telephone at 529-7900, and
request that your message or call be queued to the CWIS Coordinator,
John Harlan.
