I'm enjoying everyone's thoughts on this and I couldn't agree more that CW majors need dedicated reading courses.   

Newbie question: at the moment, we have 311/312 for fiction and poetry. Would collapsing the two allow us to easily offer the equivalent of a 311/312 for CNF?  

And #2, if we did collapse 311/312, is there a risk of being limited on how often the course is offered? I'd be nervous that a dean somewhere would wonder why we are offering three sections of this class, but maybe those fears are unfounded.
