Eric, one of our recent grads has had luck with an on-line pub called Linguistic Erosion, which I don't know anything about--just haven't had a chance to check it out. He found it through duotrope.

I had completely forgotten about this resource--thank you, Margaret.

I'm not looking for journals that focus specifically on publishing undergraduate work, just journals that undergrads might feasibly submit to. (I know, most of the time those are one and the same thing.)

E.

Hi, Eric--

Are you looking for publications that focus specifically on the work of undergraduates? Arianne Hartsell-Gundy has set up a tremendous database of online journals, as well as a list of the print journals the library holds. Here's a link to the library's CW homepage:

http://libguides.lib.muohio.edu/creativewriting

The students can poke around and find journals that suit their work. King really has an amazing collection of print journals.

Webdelsol and NewPages are good resources on-line for finding out about lit journals. (Also Narrative.com)

Subject: undergrad publication resources

Hello All,

I'm revising my list of literary journals that undergrad students in our 300-level CW courses can use to explore the literary marketplace, with a focus on journals that they could feasibly submit work to. Does anyone have suggestions for such journals? Suggestions for journals that publish fiction and/or creative nonfiction would be especially timely.

I have a similar list of databases (e.g., duotrope.com), listservs, online writing groups, etc., going, and suggestions for those are also welcome.

On a related note: might it be useful to maintain such a resource for all of our students, undergrad and grad, somewhere, somehow?

I almost titled this email "undergrad pub resources," but thought that might generate an entirely different list of resources.

Thanks in advance,
Eric MUM
