With all of the talk about alternate proposals, I think we need to discuss as a cohort (which I guess means when I return) whether anyone is interested in pursuing this/being involved in it, etc.

In any case, it seems as if it's moving slowly forward.

Eric,
Graduate Council met yesterday and endorsed the PDP for the MFA-Creative Writing. I made a couple of small wording changes that are technical in nature, most specifically we need to avoid the phrase MFA in Creative Writing. Technically that would be a new degree as opposed to a new major, which is what we are proposing (we already offer an MFA). Also you used the term Ohio State system and I changed that to state of Ohio, since we are not proposing to offer this degree with Ohio State. Graduate Council also wanted me to communicate to you that they did not find your argument for program need very compelling.

The next COAD meeting is Nov. 28 and we would like to have this on that agenda. If you want to revise the paragraph on program need, please do so by Monday, Nov. 19. I don’t think it is all that necessary to make revisions at this point, although doing so could strengthen the proposal. I am more concerned with getting this through the Miami system and out to RACGS for review.

Since one of my emails went into your junk, please let me know when you receive this and let me know if you want to make any revisions. Thanks --Ann
