I'd like to suggest an additional fiction student to award -- Lorraine Boissoneault. She's in my 420 right now. Each of her stories has been really different. And she's great with peer critiques.

Unfortunately, of the ones you list Eric I only know Alex.

Subject: Undergraduate Creative Writing Awards

Dear Colleagues,

Just yesterday, I remembered that we had neglected to decide on the Walter Havighurst undergraduate writing awards. There’s one in fiction, one in poetry. This is an award for seniors, and we’ve generally used it to honor the most likely to succeed/most valuable member of the program. We need to decide on it no later than Monday, and it seems to me that we can do it on-line. I suggest we do this in two steps, 1) listing students we think worthy of consideration by genre 2) voting on that list.

In fiction, I’d like to mention, in an unranked order: Kate Segraves, Sara Rubenstein, Jarrett Shedd, Alex Dannemiller, Steven Hoffman.

In poetry (I’ve only taught him in screenwriting): Cody Ziler.

By the way, although there will be graduate writing awards (funded by Frank Jordan’s generosity), there will be no Outstanding Graduate Student awards this year, since that money has had to come out of the Alumni fund, and Kerry was loathe to part with any of it this year.

    Eric
