Dear Arts & Sciences faculty,

I’m writing to provide you with information about the Department of English and Comparative Literature’s 2012-13 Visiting Writers Series. This year’s series includes Tracy K. Smith and Claudia Emerson, winners of the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry in 2012 and 2006, respectively, and Charles Baxter, winner of the 2012 Rea Award in the Short Story. It also includes our bi-annual Emerging Fiction Writers Festival during which four up-and-coming American fiction writers give readings and participate in panels.
