This email was sent to Eric by Patrick Murphy on 14th November, 2011. So, it is somewhat out of date, especially on the PW majors. Still, a useful overview. We peaked in 2009-10. We DO need to recruit pretty hard (or not??). One easy thing we can do is to post simple clear ads in BAC and encourage those teaching 226 to make a strong pitch on our behalf (perhaps embracing that idea of a brief classroom visit . .? or some kind of recruitment-style event??).
Great to see and hear everybody this morning.

CW:
Fall 2011: 245 (101 men, 144 women)
Fall 2010: 276
Fall 2009: 276 (sic)
Fall 2008: 255
Fall 2007: 252
Fall 2006: 257
Ten Years Ago, Fall 2001: 184
LIT:
Fall 2011: 217 (57 men, 160 women)--I had no idea how lopsided this was in Lit!
Fall 2010: 238
Fall 2009: 264
Fall 2008: 281
Fall 2007: 294 (Whoa! Looks like we peaked right when I showed up. I thank my lucky job-search stars)
Fall 2006: 278
Ten Years Ago, Fall 2001: 214 (Lit trailed CW by 30 students ten years ago; it still does)
PW:
No data available on MInE. My best guess would be around 20. Heidi may have a sharper figure.
MINORS:
American Lit: 15
English Lit: 26
Rhetoric and Writing: 46
Hope this helps. Hope this doesn't make my colleagues think the sky is falling. Clearly Lit is down lately, but steady in the long run.
