At approx 4pm on Tuesday May 28th the config on this service was
changed.  I left a security hole permiting unauthenticated ppp
and slip connections.  I closed this hole for ppp today.
There is no effect on slip connections now.  Sometime tomorrow
slip will also require authentication or it will be gone.
Any changes to the configuration of this service will be notified
here.   Changes that are not absolutely required will be notified
in advance in this newsgroup.  This change had to be made asap.
 
There are two ways that ppp is authenticated on this service.
The "old" way was
1  hit return
2. answer Username and Password prompts correctly.
3. initiate ppp session.
THE OLD WAY CONTINUES TO WORK.
 
The new way is
1.  initiate ppp connection
2.  use PAP to communice userid and password.
