for the past week or so i've had trouble connecting to the 523-0003 pool
of modems on the first try.  it has sometimes taken up to 4 or 5 tries
to get a connection.  I haven't had problems like this since the testing
phase of Miami's PPP service.  perhaps there's a faulty modem
somewhere.  something to look into.
