Plans still exsists for upgrading the modems to increase the number of
modems, support 28.8 without the Gandolf 19.2k limit, support terminal server,
PPP and Apple ARA dial in. The Miami University Data and Video Network Plan
which has just been kicked off with NEC includes somewhere around 200 modems
for the Oxford campus and 48 modems each for Hamilton and Middletown campuses.
The installation project will start ASAP (probably in January) and proceed as
quickly as possible to be full service before the start of the next school year
Our highest priority is to increase the number of terminal service modems avail
able as soon as possible followed as it becomes possible with other services.
Issues of how to authenticate callers, client software and what services and
how the services should be presented still have to be worked out for non termin
al server access.
