Test Network Dial-In Service is finally available.
This service supports ppp and slip dial in only,
although slip is not a supported service. PPP is
the only guaranteed service for fall. There are
16 modems at 529-2930. These are V.32, V.42bis modems
with a maximum link speed of 28.8 Kbps.

We have tested Windows95 computers. They work out of the
box with appropriate configuration of the Network control
panel.
We have also tested ppp on Macintosh computers. There is
software on the Support server.

Dial-In. Then choose FreePPP 1.0.5 or the more complex,
but easier to install and use "Install FreePPP 2.5.rf".
Enter your unique id as the Username.
The password is the Novell Domain System password.
If you log into file servers this is probably the password
you use there. If you don't log into file servers,
the default is the first eight digits of the Miami Id
on your id card.

If you don't know your userid, go to a microcenter and
use ph to look yourself up.

If you have userid problems, go to a microcenter and log
in as ".uniqueid.student.mu" . On a Mac select
login under the novell tree in the upper right hand
corner of the screen. On a Windows PC select the
Netware Tools group. Then run User Tools, click on
the tree and log in.
Once logged in using either platform a button or menu
will allow you to change password.

A sample dialog follows. Your ppp client may show part
or all of this dialog.

Please note the [log in to unmask] If you have modem problems
and are able to see this prompt at some point, please reference
it in your trouble report. For the curious, I connected to
line 11 on the third server in chassis ACCROB204-1.

If you have a platform other then Windows95 or Macintosh you
are on your own until we identify solutions.
