Both Oxford modem banks are now available for use:

1-7700 - for those accessing the network from 529 phones
       - this service is operational but may have intermittent problems as
         we work out the kinks

523-0003 - for those accessing the network from off-campus phones

Please note that the 1-7700 number CANNOT be dialed from off-campus and the
523-0003 number will soon (today or tomorrow) not be available from on-campus.

The reason that this is necessary is to balance the load of calls to the
separate modem banks and, in the case of the off-campus number, to conserve
resources. When an on-campus number calls an off-campus number, one trunk
line is used; in this case the 523-0003 number is truly on-campus, so a 2nd
trunk line is used to come back on campus. To prevent an overload to the
system, each number is blocked into its appropriate audience.

Our hope is that very soon both lines will be stable. Please bear with us as
we work thru the problems.
