The Miami Computer Users Group has a www page which contains some extensive
information on fine-tuning kermit. If you're in VMS, just type LYNX or WWW.
This will take you to the MU home page; from there, just select the
Other Servers (www) option and then the MCUG link. Once you're in to the MCUG
page, go to the bottom and open the IBM hints link (if you're on another
platform, most of the advice should be applicable to your software).

Regards,
Bob
