ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
NONPROFIT SECTOR RESEARCH FUND
 
The Nonprofit Sector Research Fund is a Washington, D.C.-based program of The
Aspen Institute that seeks to expand understanding of the nonprofit sector
through grantmaking programs and small conferences and seminars.  The Fund
encourages research that explores the sector's diversity, benefits nonprofit
practices, and informs public policy.
 
The Fund seeks an associate director to work with the director in managing the
activities of the Fund; analyzing grant proposals and working with grantees;
raising funds for the grantmaking programs; designing research conferences and
seminars; coordinating regional grantmaking programs and acting as the liaison
with regional advisory committees; communicating research findings to
practitioner and academic audiences; representing the Fund in writing and in
person among donors, grantees, and the broader public; designing and
implementing special projects; and, performing general administrative tasks,
including staff and intern supervision and budgeting.  Desired qualifications
include:
 
(r)     familiarity with issues of concern to the nonprofit sector;
 
(r)     interest and experience in the nonprofit sector, public policy, and
research;
 
(r)     demonstrated research skills and understanding of research methods;
 
(r)     masters or doctorate degree or equivalent experience;
 
(r)     demonstrated fundraising experience;
 
(r)     strong administrative abilities, including the ability to plan, organize,
and follow through with staff and a variety of constituencies;
 
(r)     experience designing and coordinating conferences;
 
(r)     excellent communications skills; and
 
(r)     willingness to travel.
