Puritanism...helps us enjoy our misery while we are inflicting it on others. 
When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.   

A superstition is a premature explanation that overstays its time.   
So, this doesn't mean anything, but at least it's not obvious nonsense. 

Too many have dispensed with generosity in order to practice charity.  
Nothing is illegal if one hundred businessmen decide to do it.
