Much more activity at Denison this morning but the prize was later in the morning when up popped this absolutely gorgeous male Golden-winged Warbler close to the trail. A little bit of morning sun was shining on him and he was truly stunning even if he did not stay long. I hung around for a while, hoping to get another look, but could not refind it. I was thrilled to see it as Golden-winged has proved to be a bit of an Ohio nemesis bird for me—I don’t see it every year. This is the best look I’ve had for awhile, too; certainly one of the closest views. I’m now left with only a few E warblers to find at Denison: Cerulean, Kirtland’s, and Swainson’s.

The mix of warblers was different today and they were moving thru quickly so I know I missed some! I saw Wilson’s & Blue-winged which I don’t see that often at Denison. Also had 4 vireos.

Morris Woods had a few birds after almost nothing yesterday. I added 2 warblers there: Black-throated Blue, another gorgeous male, and an Ovenbird showing well. A couple imm male RB Grosbeaks. Also saw my first mink for the park.
