V pleasant morning at Clear Creek even though the density of the foliage made for rain forest-style birding. The creek is high & muddy but roads clear.

I accomplished my 2 main birding goals: to actually see rather than just hear Worm-eating & Kentucky Warblers.

Worm-eatings were easy to hear along the Hemlock Trail but proved elusive until I got lucky when movement caught my eye. Had great views of a mostly silent Worm-eating gleaning fairly high in a tree but as I was on a slope, It was at eye-level for me. The sun caught its caramel throat making it look almost orange.

Had brief but v good views of a male Kentucky alongside one of many male Hooded Warblers before it dove back into thick cover.

Saw family groups of Hoodeds, La WTs & Ovenbirds. Also discovered a Hooded Warbler can sing just fine with a large insect in its Bill.

Had a male Am Redstart feeding in some weeds alongside the main road, a bit odd.

Other warblers heard only: Cerulean, Com YT, Blk-thr Green, Yellow-throated.

Saw a juv Scarlet Tanager begging from adult male. Lots of “chick-burrs” along the Hemlock Trail.

Wood & Hermit Thrushes singing but didn’t get a Veery. Acadian FCs, Pee-wees. Indigo Buntings, E Bluebirds & Tree Swallows. Red-eyed, Yellow-throated & White-eyed Vireos. Red-shouldered Hawk called.
