A fresh 2 inches or so of snow covered the fields enough again. ThebLongspurs
were mainly concentrated near the end of the dead end section. The Horned
Larks were mainly concentrated toward the beginning. For whatever reasons.
Wed. - after it warms up some.... 4 degrees overnight?? - I will hit another county.
Warren, Clinton, or Brown. Hopefully by this time next week we are in a bit
of a warmup.
I hit VOA Park in Butler after Simonson. Completely different! Hardly any birds!
The roads were plowed, but hardly any dirt edges for our feathered friends.
Shame.
Question - I am assuming these Longspur numbers are not the norm. We have
been getting more snow than usual in SW Ohio at least. Joy.... Snow concentrates
field birds. Thoughts? Are these counts in areas around the state higher than normal?
Even a normal snowfall year?
Good birding all.
