It was warmer and more humid than I’d hoped for this morning but still relatively pleasant for July. Birding was quieter than it was here a couple weeks ago, but I still saw some nice birds. I also made a stop at Logan Lk which added a few species to the day incl an Osprey.
At Clear Creek, I watched 3 fledgling Am Redstarts foraging near one another while making high-pitched calls. In the same area was a juv Hooded Warbler with just a hint of a hood. I only heard one Kentucky warbler and did not see any today. Hoodeds were still singing, as well as N Parulas and Com YTs. I was able to spot a singing Black-throated Green warbler very high in a Hemlock tree. I also saw a few Louisiana Waterthrushes, including three near a stream together, which I thought was likely a family group. As I was leaving a Veery was doing its “veer” call repeatedly but despite spending some time looking for it, I was not successful.
