So I stopped by Armleder canoe launch around 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, planning on just staying for a few minutes. I took the path to the left to where a fallen branch lay across the path, when there were warblers flitting and bouncing seemingly everywhere! They were feasting on whatever was in the understory weeds. I was definitely in the middle of a wave. I’ve not really focused on fall warblers, so I had a difficult time IDing a lot of them, much less counting them! Talk about "confusing fall warblers”! Some of what I could ID were Tennessee, Nashville, Black-throated Blue, Prothonotary, Parula, Black and white, magnolia, possibly blackpoll. There was probably more but I really couldn’t keep up. No doubt a better birder could have! It was fun to have a front-row seat to this fall warbler wave! There were other locals, but I was focused on the warbs.

Also of note, late morning at Magrish was a Yellow-billed cuckoo hanging out in the parking lot Catalpa tree eating Catalpa caterpillars!

Weather was warm, pleasant, and mostly sunny.

Happy Birding!
Mary Cullum
