The raven behavior Bill Whan described from New York is already occurring in Ohio. On Nov. 15 Michael Dietrich and I did a winter raptor survey around Harrison County and came upon 16 ravens picking at 3 deer carcasses that lay very near each other. I went back on the 18th to observe them. The birds were gone and so was all the meat on the deer. For raptors we had 4 Roughies and 5 Harriers. Two other highlights were 4 Ross's geese and a flock of 105 green wing teal ( a huge number for the unglaciated plateau area of Ohio.
