I don’t know this area well but I hoped I might get lucky & to see the Bewick’s Tundra Swan but missed it—it was seen at Wright Marsh earlier in the morning but departed S. I only saw a few swans, most quite distant but thought they were Tundras & I heard Tundras but none who untucked their heads appeared to be the Bewick’s. Saw a pair of Trumpeter Swans at a smaller pond as I was driving around.

Off Carrie Rd when I first got there, there were hundreds of ducks, mostly pintails—probably close to a thousand—the most I’ve ever seen in Ohio—pretty amazing sight even if too far for photos. Scanning through them, I found a few other species: N shoveler, Am Wigeon (dipped on Eurasian), bufflehead, ring-necked, gadwall, mallard, black & some coots. Heard Wood Ducks. Missed a Com Goldeneye some other birders saw at Cemetery. Also saw 5 Sandhill Cranes—may have been more as they landed in a field out of sight.

At what I gather is called the Shreve fish pond, I added canvasback, redhead & Scaup (which looked like Lessers) to me.

Ran across a small group of Tree Sparrows. Great Blue Heron. Nice to hear spring Peepers!

Raptors: Bald Eagle, Red-tailed & kestrel.

I stopped briefly at Wally Rd to scan the ridge lines for Golden Eagle but only saw a pair of Red-tailed & TVs. Heard a Pileated WP & Wood Ducks.

Had a Brown Creeper in my backyard yesterday—only the second one for my backyard list. Daffodils alr blooming!
