They were reported yesterday at the Meldahl Dam - Clermont. That’s the eastern
End of the county along the Ohio River. I am surprised they stuck! I don't think
Of waterfowl sticking on the Ohio River. But I checked anyway. Success!
An adult male and a female. County bird! I checked the checklist of the
Birds of Ohio - sure enough this is the start of the timeframe for when they would
Show up in the state. I had high hopes for Butler county - waterfowl not just
a Surf Scoter. I plugged Furfield into maps. Only one hour and 5 minutes! Only….
I got halfway there - road debris blew out a tire…… sigh…… all fixed and the
Birding mobile is ready for Sat afternoon and Sunday afternoon. I have morning
Commitments. Butler will be explored more - barring another rarity around!
Good birding all.
