I was dissappointed earlier this month to discover that the nest the red
tailed hawks used for the last two years at Lazelle Woods Park (and
probably before that) didn't make it through the winter. I was wondering
where they would end up nesting this year. I found out this evening.
They have been nesting in the same nest that the Cooper's Hawks have used
at Lazelle Woods for at least the last two years.
I guess that means war is going to break out when the Cooper's Hawks are
ready to use it. Either that or the male Cooper's Hawk can finally finish
one of the nests he began building as part of a courtship display the past
couple of years.
