I picked up 5 at the Shawnee lookout boat ramp. I was checking out the
River bottom area there. I think that’s the proper term! It looked like a break
In the heavy rain for a bit this afternoon. So out I go! Just light rain. And the
Wind wasn’t bad yet. That was my first time in that area. Didn’t know what to
Expect. From the CBC three weeks ago though, I was expecting more numbers!
No… not for me at least. Things can change in three weeks. Plus the weather.

Here were my five new birds - Kingfisher, Hairy woodpecker, goldfinch!!
Hermit thrush and Fox sparrow. Managed 2 as I walked back. That was my
Target!

Still missing winter wren, creeper - that’s a given for me…. Missing it! Coopers
And sharpie. Merlin, peregrine. Etc. plus waterfowl. Which should move into
Our area with the deep freeze coming….. barred owl screech owl. Short eared
Owl….

Good birding all.
