This morning I spent some time birding at the bog in Jackson Township in Stark County. At the western side of the boardwalk I located seven green winged teal, five were male and two were female. I also located a winter wren a little further along on the boardwalk heading east. I marked a spot in the snow on the boardwalk with an arrow and then WW for winter wren.
A note of caution: this boardwalk is extremely hazardous. Walking on it can be very dangerous as it is covered with snow and ice and the footing on it during any kind of wet conditions is extremely sketchy. Please use extreme caution if you decide to go and try and locate these birds.
From the parking lot of the bog, you follow the trail down towards the right side of the woods which eventually takes you to the far west end of the boardwalk. You walk in about 40 yards and there's a spot in which you can look west into the marsh. You will see a lot of Canada geese, Mallard, American black duck, and also the Green Wing teal if they are still there.
Good luck and happy birding!
