Many of us still look to the bird list on this listserve as our main source of rare bird sightings (and I still check the listserves in the other states I bird).

I politely request again that if after posting rarities to your favorite online sites, you could find time to copy your rarity sightings to this list, it would be much appreciated by those of us who use this list as our primary source.

Many thanks.

As our entire culture has shifted towards online social media for news, articles, journals, etc., the birding community has in a very large way as well. The most active and up to date sightings reports are coming from eBird and three Facebook groups: Ohio Chase Birds, Birding Ohio, and the Ohio Rare Bird Alert. To view up to the minute current sightings on these groups you will have to create a Facebook account. For some folks this is daunting, with fears of being sucked into the Facebook world. However, many folks that are not interested in social media sites have happily created a Facebook account and joined only the birding groups...steering clear of political and shopping mumbojumbo.
