Hello all,
Between 3:30 and 4:30 pm today we observed an estimated 700-800 Turkey vultures Kettling and streaming South South Easterly in groups of 50 to 100+ birds. Strong thermals were present in Southern Wood county East of I 75 and West of Fostoria. We live in Bloomdale in Southern Wood Co. The first kettles we observed were a few miles East of Bloomdale but by 4:00pm they were streaming directly over our heads. I have never seen such numbers even though I participated in Spring hawk watches in the Lake Erie Marshes for almost 8 Years. We observed only one hawk by its much smaller size but were not able to identify its species. By 4:30 the kettles were tapering off. My spouse and I were amazed by the numbers. I was an awesome experience.
