This was another new spot for me. While I was sorry I didn’t see the brightly-plumaged Stilt SP previously reported from here, I was glad I found the juvenile and was able to watch it at leisure how it feeds/walks.
Other shorebirds there in small numbers:
Killdeer—many
Least SP
Semi-palmated SP
Pectoral SP (1)
Solitary SP (1)
Spotted SP (1)
Lesser YLs
Green Heron
Great Egret
Rough-winged Swallows
Barn Swallows
I stopped by Darby Lakes since I was close thinking the King Rail might come out since it was cloudy but I didn’t see it around 3pm altho I didn’t stay too long. At the wetlands, I was hissed at again by the male Trumpeter Swan as he stood watch over his mate & the 2 large cygnets which were preening by the side of the trail.
I heard but didn’t see Pied-billed Grebes. One Great Egret was there. Saw a Sedge wren in flight briefly then heard it sing a short song near the parking lot. Added Tree Swallow there. O/w, v quiet.
