Ventured out before it got too hot this morning. Nothing unusual and fairly quiet but the woods were a nice respite from the heat with wood thrushes singing. A few too many rather noisy hikers.

Mostly heard birds but saw a family group of Am Redstarts, male and female plus a begging fledgling. Heard Hooded and Kentucky Warblers and finally had good looks at a lovely male Hooded. Kentuckies stayed buried.

Other Warblers heard: La WT, BT Green, Com YT, ovenbird. Did not hear or see Worm-eating today. White-eyed & Red-eyed Vireos. Lots of E Towhees. Acadian FCs & Peewees.

A Red-shouldered Hawk was calling.
