I just had an immature Northern Goshawk in my back yard located one mile south of Ottawa NWR. At first glance, I thought a large Coopers, but after it flew up into a tree it was clearly too big. I got my binoculars and could clearly see the large specks on the back and white supercilium. It flew to another tree with good views and then it headed west a long Turtle Creek. If you’re on the Ottawa NWR auto tour drive or in the area, keep your eyes open.
