I stopped by this location in 3-Creeks MetroPark after work today and found quite a decent movement of birds. The pond has gained some notoriety locally by harboring deadly blue-green algae, and the periphery has plenty of signs warning people that the lake is 'closed'. Fortunately birds can't read, and there were quite a few birds taking advantage of bugs hatching from the algae. Included were mallards, wood ducks, pied-billed grebes, a cormorant, lots of Cedar waxwings, and a flock of 40 Rough-winged swallows skimming over the surface.

The neighboring riparian corridor of Alum Creek also had a fair number of migrants, including Phoebes, more waxwings, Catbirds, 6 warbler species (Yellow-rumps predominant, but also Palm, Tennessee, Blackpoll, Black-thr.Blue, and Black-thr.Green), Indigo Buntings, Rose-br.Grosbeaks, Swamp Sparrow, and Lincoln's Sparrow. All this was from a 45-minute stint in the afternoon before the rain, so it might be even more productive in the morning.
