Yesterday, Donald Morse found a female KING EIDER on the Ohio River at Chilo Lock #34 Park, Chilo, Clermont County. She is still there today, Sunday morning, Dec. 3. I first picked her up from the river overlook inside the Crooked Run Nature Preserve next to the park. She then floated downstream to her previous location, near the museum. Brian, Brainard, and other Kentucky birders were debating the rules regarding the Ohio/Kentucky border and concluded that she is in Ohio waters, occasionally drifting out in the "gray zone" between the states.
It was very foggy while I was there, between 7:20 and 8:40am. Hopefully, it has cleared up by now.
