A bird that eluded me last year when I was doing a Big Year for Erie County, was the Sandhill Crane.
So I was just out filling my bird feeders. I heard them first, as one often does with cranes. I looked up and saw 28 Sandhill Cranes fly right over my backyard! What a beautiful sight, even it was too late for my Big Year count.
