Hi all - as we close in on the end of 2017 (!), a quick reminder of some of the online resources for Ohio birders seeking rare bird sightings. As our entire culture has shifted towards online social media for news, articles, journals, etc., the birding community has in a very large way as well. The most active and up to date sightings reports are coming from eBird and three Facebook groups: Ohio Chase Birds, Birding Ohio, and the Ohio Rare Bird Alert. To view up to the minute current sightings on these groups you will have to create a Facebook account. For some folks this is daunting, with fears of being sucked into the Facebook world. However, many folks that are not interested in social media sites have happily created a Facebook account and joined only the birding groups...steering clear of political and shopping mumbojumbo.

Tuesday and Wednesday look roaringly good for lakefront lakewatching and checking harbors and marinas, with a huge shift in winds. WNW and NNW from 25-35+. The jet stream will rock the lakefront for 48 hours.
