An enjoyable day birding, meeting fellow birders, getting lucky with
Sightings! No Kittiwake at the campground at Caesar Creek - Warren.
But really nice looks - and listens to Bonapartes gulls. Horned grebes
In close at times too. I decided to try for the shrike for Dec. success!
Still the same area. I see it in those brushy islands I call them right in
Front of the parking lot. But I see now where others get it. Those brushy
Islands go back toward the main road. I went exploring that whole area
More. The Bluebirds were checking out nest boxes. Seems early.
I had just started birding another area when Andrew calls. Long tailed
Ducks at Cowan lake! Off the Commercial Marina. Three. And imagine
My surprise when a fellow birder says they just saw a Kittiwake! I am
Assuming it’s the one from Caesar Creek. This is a rare bird for the state.
Especially down here! Anyway, it was at the eastern end of the lake.
It was seen again at the Commercial Marina. So it was moving around.
Good birding all.
