The place is drying up. Fred did not cooperate! We need rain here in SW Ohio.
I chose here for my daily scan. Bairds is good! 208 for my big year. I need WR
still. And Western! I sent Andrew the details. He refound the Bairds. I don't
think it will stick if no rain though. Although its interesting, Bairds is a sod
farm bird in NJ. They can be found in wet field areas, but sod farms and
mowed crop fields were always the best.
We hit Fernald yesterday. The Wilson's phalarope would have been a county
bird for me. No success with that - birds move - but SB Dows were nice.
Big year bird! Always something to see. This was the lodge pond.
I missed Uppie twice at Cadiz - Flushing Rd. I hit going and coming to
NJ. Any advice on that for next year is appreciated. Plus I still need
Smiths Longspur for the state!
I stopped at a spot in Pickaway county driving home. Little Blue Heron was rare.
But the Sandhill Cranes were not. I have a lot to learn still about Ohio birds!
Quite enjoyable!
Good birding all.
