Early Saturday afternoon at the Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area southwest of
Wooster, along Cemetery Road were 2 White-winged Scoters, 1 Blue-winged Teal, 2
American Wigeon, 4 Bufflehead, 7 Ring-necked Ducks, and 6 Hooded Mergansers,
plus Mallards, Coots, and 2 Mute Swans. Thanks to Larry Richardson for calling
me about the Scoters.
Just south of Holmesville in the "rail marsh" were at least 2 and probably 3
Virginia Rails. This location has had wintering rails for at least 15 and
probably 20 years.
3 Black Ducks were with 25+ Mallards were along County Line Road just off Rt 83
between Holmesville and Moreland.
