I stopped at these two reservoirs north of Columbus, working in a side trip
to the celebrity Calliope Hummingbird. Thank you Tania for sharing such a
great bird with us! I was there from 10:45-11:30, and the bird was very
active, perching for only a minute at a time before racing around to
dive-bomb other birds or perform spectacular rises-and-dives. It was
active enough that I wonder if it isn't getting ready to migrate on, so you
might want to pay a visit soon if you haven't done so.

Elsewhere, the 2 reservoirs were surprisingly devoid of much waterfowl. I
stopped at New Galena, Plumb Rd, and Cheshire at Alum Creek lake, and had
Pied-billed Grebes and cormorants at each stop, but little else.
O'Shaughnessy had similar birds.

Landbirds showed some late migrants, including:

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 1 was hanging around Area P (Pylon Point) in the
upper reaches of O'Shaughenssy Reservoir

BrownCreeper - still scarce, with only one the entire morning (at Plumb Rd
access).

Kinglets - lots of Golden-crowns, with birds at every stop; New Galena had
7-8

Robins - flocks at many locations; New Galena had 120+ feeding on a good
crop of wild grapes

Bluebirds - small flocks at several spots, including New Galena, Plumb Rd,
and O'Shaughnessy

Warblers - nothing but Yellow-rumps, but they were common at most stops

Sparrows - nothing unusual, but small Junco flocks were at many locations

Blackbirds - I had big grackle flocks in Columbus, but the reservoirs had
little except a few small groups of Redwings.
