I stopped at several spots around Galena this afternoon after the rain,
including Wren Way trails, the railroad bridge bikeway, and the Area M
boardwalk (and adjoining Area N forest). Some summer residents still
active, but most of the landbirds have stopped singing. Water levels are
still very high, so no waders other than herons & egrets. Notables
included:

Waterfowl - nothing of note other than a few mallards and the now-regular
flock of 30 cormorants
Vultures - numbers of TVs at all sites, but nothing in double digits
Osprey - still 2 adults and 2 begging juveniles hanging around the
boardwalk area
Herons,Egrets - Great Blues & Great Egrets common along the reservoir shore
at Areas M & N, also had Green Herons there and at the railroad bridge
bikeway.
Gulls,Terns - the boardwalk had a small flock of Ring-billed Gulls, a pair
of Herring Gulls, and 3 Caspian Terns
Cuckoo - the only one was a calling Yellow-billed at the Railroad Bridge
bikeway
Red-headed Woodpeckers - good numbers in their central Ohio stronghold,
topped by 4-5 around Area N
Flycatchers - a few Pewees, Phoebes, and Kingbirds, nothing else
Swallows - a handful of Barns and Trees flew by the boardwalk, but no
flocks here
ProthonotaryWarblers - single males were still active around the Boardwalk
and Area N
Grosbeaks,Buntings - Indigo Buntings were still singing in many locations,
but the only Rose-br.Grosbeak was an immature at Wren Way.
Orioles - the only one was a female Baltimore at Wren Way
