At Blendon Woods, I saw or heard pretty much the same birds listed by Bob McNulty. I heard and saw Barred Owl, I believe for the first time at this MetroPark.

A highlight for me was a male Scarlet Tanager high in a tree but catching the early morning light, a brilliant ruby red against a blue sky: stunning. Also, I got great looks at my FOS Bay-breasted Warbler as well as a close Black-throated Blue.

I ran into a couple birders who told me a Connecticut Warbler had been spotted this morning at Highbanks MP. Having never visited this park, I figured this was a good time to do so.

We met up there but were not able to locate the target bird. Birding was relatively quiet but I got my FOS Orchard Oriole & Summer Tanager (heard only). Yellow-throated Vireos were singing. Indigo Buntings, Spotted SP by the river.

Thx to Joe & Steve for the CT Warbler tip & birding plus botanical info.
