A few migrants were around on this pleasantly cool morning. One tree yielded 3 fall warbler species: a couple Blackburnian females, at least one Black-throated Green & one Bay-breasted. A couple silent empids were also flitting about in the same tree as well as a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. The empids had teardrop-shaped complete eye rings & overall dull. Later I saw another empid with a strong yellow wash so I’m pretty sure that was a Yellow-bellied FC.

A Ruby-crowned Kinglet was near olde minnow pond.

Acadian FC & peewees still calling. I did not hear any Wood Thrushes.

Only other warbler was a juv Com YT. Saw & heard WE & RE Vireos. Wood Ducks.

A few Purple Martins flew over. Had good views of a cooperative YB Cuckoo. Less than great looks at fall orioles—most likely Baltimore from what I could tell. An E Kingbird was by the parking lot.

The entire field off Swallow Trail has been mown & all the Bluebird boxes removed. I hope there was some ecological reason why they mowed it—I worry it might impact winter sparrows & finches. I hope there weren’t any late broods utilizing the houses.

A brief stop at the Land Lab added a flyover calling Bobolink & stunning views of a male Indigo Bunting catching the morning light—it glowed indigo. Also saw a Green Heron & more Wood Ducks.
